Sheffield United fans are convinced that the club have provided ‘fantastic’ kits this season, with the away shirt proving to be a contender for being better than the rest in the Championship.

As the Championship season looms, many Sheffield United fans have been left waiting for the club to announce their kits.

They have already released their home shirt ahead of the 2025/26 season, which received a positive reception from the fans, especially regarding the sponsor which has been said to improve the kit.

Sheffield United also released a Leadmill-inspired third kit, paying homage to the iconic venue in Sheffield’s city centre.

However, both shirts, and all in the Championship, have arguably been trumped by the club’s latest effort, with the away kit proving to be a beauty for the Blades.

How Sheffield United fans reacted to 2025/26 away kit

Many Sheffield United supporters have been blown away by their recent effort at an away shirt, having released a white away shirt with gold pinstripes. The club have said, via the official website, that the new kit is ‘a modern classic that reflects United’s forward momentum under new ownership and direction, while remaining rooted in the club’s enduring legacy’.

They also decided that the away shirt shoot was best placed in The Crucible, with Sheffield United suggesting that it was ‘a fitting location for a kit built to shine under the spotlight’.

Sheffield United supporters took to social media to praise the shirt, with one suggesting that it was a ‘thing of beauty’, whilst another said that it was a ‘fantastic’ effort by the club.

Fans continued, as one said: “Now THAT is nice,” whilst another gave the verdict of it being a ‘class shirt’.

As a collective effort by the club, one Sheffield United fan praised all of the kits that had been released, having said: “For once we have three class shirts.”

New Blades kit could be a contender for best Championship shirt

Kit releases can often be make-or-break for some supporters – whilst Sheffield United fans are very happy with their club’s effort, Sheffield Wednesday fans have condemned Dejphon Chansiri for their kit and the pricing on the shirt.

Sheffield United, in this case with their most recent release, have arguably stolen the show with a brilliant shirt, being clean, slick, and incredibly modern.

The small touches of paying homage to various historic places in Sheffield, as well, provides a reason why this season’s kits resonate with Blades fans.

Their white away kit is an absolute beauty, although it is unlikely to stay that colour for five minutes once Sydie Peck and Oli Arblaster begin sliding around the centre of the park on a wet Tuesday night at Bramall Lane.
