The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust are set to spearhead a protest against Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri in their opening day clash against Leicester City.

Sheffield Wednesday remain in turmoil with the 2025/26 Championship campaign fast approaching.

The Owls head into their opening day clash at Leicester City expecting very little from the game, given the threadbare squad that newly appointed Henrik Pedersen has at his disposal.

Some rare positive news came for the Owls on Saturday as club captain Barry Bannan signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract, but the negative headlines continue to dominate.

With the Owls faithful at boiling point, the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust have planned a protest against Dejphon Chansiri for the Foxes visit on Sunday, with one member slamming the Owls owner’s negligence on national television.

Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust member slams Dejphon Chansiri

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust released protest details for the upcoming attempt to bring to light the failings of Chansiri this weekend.

At Leicester, the travelling Owls faithful will remain outside the King Power Stadium until five minutes after the first whistle, with a large banner arranged to be displayed in the visibly empty away end for the Sky Sports cameras to capture.

Ahead of the protest, one member of the trust, James Silverwood, has discussed the situation at Sheffield Wednesday and the toll Chansiri’s ownership is having on the Owls fanbase.

On Monday morning, Silverwood told BBC Breakfast: “Football clubs are important institutions within their community.

“And what owners like Dejphon Chansiri and Jason Whittingham (Morecambe FC owner) are doing are actually declaring war on the communities that their football clubs inhabit, causing emotional pain, physical pain, causing harm to people’s livelihoods. And it just has to stop.”

Silverwood was then asked about whether he sympathizes with Chansiri’s statement from April, in which the Owls owner said: “I’m not a perfect owner. I’ve never claimed to be.

“I’ve seen some of the things said about me, but I always try my best.

“What I’ve tried to do is keep our club alive with growth and a stable future on and off the field.”

The Sheffield Wednesday Trust member replied: “No, I don’t think there’s a word of that, that is true.

“I don’t think he has managed the club sustainably. I don’t think he has had its best interests at heart.

“So I would dispute almost every single word of that statement.”

Dejphon Chansiri told to accept Sheffield Wednesday ‘offers on the table’

Throughout the turmoil in S6, there is Sheffield Wednesday takeover interest, but the main stumbling block to a resolution continues to be the Thai businessman.

Chansiri is demanding £100m for Sheffield Wednesday, with his estimation of the Owls’ worth pricing out any potential new buyers, given the state the club is currently in.

Silverwood concluded: “The best solution for Sheffield Wednesday is for the current owner to sell the club.

“There are offers on the table. We know that for a fact. We do not know why he’s not accepting them.

“Those should be accepted because the best way for Morecambe and Sheffield Wednesday to move forward are for these bad owners to depart the scene and pass them on to credible people who can move those football clubs forward and best serve the community.”
