Sheffield Wednesday fans have noticed a disconnect between themselves and the club this summer, and whilst the kit is not at the top of their list of concerns, the supporters have noticed one thing that has helped ruin it.
This summer has been catastrophic for Sheffield Wednesday, and with two weeks until the Championship season gets underway, they are incredibly unprepared for the challenge ahead.
Concerns off the pitch have bled into the first team’s preparations for the 2025/26 Championship campaign, with several Sheffield Wednesday players moving on as a result of uncertainty regarding the state of the club.
A catalogue of concerns face Sheffield Wednesday and owner Dejphon Chansiri, and the supporters have already turned their back on the hierarchy as it looks set to be an incredibly challenging season for the club.
Whilst it is not at the top of the list of priorities, mainly because there are so many issues at the club, the Sheffield Wednesday kit received poor reviews from fans, especially when the price was released. Since then, the home shirt has been in action in pre-season friendlies, where fans have noticed one detail that they believe potentially ‘ruins’ it.

What Sheffield Wednesday fans have noticed about the 2025/26 kit
The Owls donned their fresh stripes in their behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly against Mansfield Town recently, where Sheffield Wednesday emerged as winners.
Whilst it was a positive result for Danny Rohl’s side, fans were sidetracked by the new home kit, realising that it had a plain back.
It is safe to say that Owls supporters weren’t too keen on this style, as one took to X and suggested that it was ‘one of the worst designs I can remember’. Another fan said that the ‘back ruins the kit’ and also went on to suggest that ‘this is probably worst home kit they’ve [Macron] produced’.
Reacting to the plain back of the shirt, another fan said that it ‘definitely goes down as one of the worst home kits in living memory.’
Why Owls fans won’t be rushing to the club shop for the 2025/26 home shirt
Aside from the clear discontent towards the new home shirt, the main reason why Sheffield Wednesday fans are deciding against buying it is the ridiculous price.
Sheffield Wednesday’s home kit is by far the most expensive in the Championship, retailing at a staggering £72. For a baby kit, it costs £62…
Whilst Dejphon Chansiri is still in charge, many Sheffield Wednesday fans will make their feelings clear by boycotting. But, the fact that they have priced the shirt at £72 makes it incredibly easy for Owls fans to opt against buying the kit this season.
