It’s been a busy summer for Sheffield Wednesday supporters, and with the first two games of the season behind them, fresh plans for more protests have been made.

The Owls are currently 23rd in the Championship table, but this season has been marred by off-field financial issues that have left the squad depleted and staff unpaid on several occasions already.

Fans whistled throughout the first minute of their defeat to Stoke City on Saturday, while a banner was flown above the King Power Stadium on the opening weekend, as the away end was vacated for the start of the game against Leicester City.

Sheffield Wednesday face Wrexham this weekend, but supporters are continuing to find new ways to bring attention to their situation, and one contingent of the club have plans for a new protest next month.

Thursday 4 September 2025 marks 158 years since the Owls were established, and to mark the occasion one group of fans have planned a protest in London.

The London Owls will take to the streets outside the Thai Embassy in the capital city to make their feelings clear about Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership.

The protest will start at 4pm and last until 5pm, with the supporters’ group hoping to get as many Sheffield Wednesday fans from London and the south-east to join them.

They have said (via: London Owls): “We might be 160-plus miles from Hillsborough but our members feel just as strongly as those thousands closer to S6 that ‘Enough is Enough’ and unless Chansiri sells up soon then the club faces the prospect of financial ruin.”

The Owls’ issues are becoming more pressing by the day

Despite being just two games into the new season, relegation looks as though it is a near-certainty and the 3-0 defeat to Stoke on Saturday may just be a sign of things to come.

Sheffield Wednesday need new faces through the door immediately, but they are limited to free agents and loanees at this point in time and this severely limits the quality of the players that they can sign.

The Owls will be backed by a full away end at Wrexham on Saturday, although they are unlikely to see Josh Windass feature for the home side after he came off injured against West Brom at the weekend.

Nevertheless, focus remains on the situation in the boardroom, as fans wait to see progress on a potential John Textor takeover.
