Shock League One side beating Brighton and Wrexham in key stat, new signings can boost it

Wrexham have been particularly effective away from home this year, but a League One team have edged them in one key statistic on the road.

The Welsh side won automatic promotion up to the Championship last term as they went up for a third season in a row. One aspect of their season that helped them achieve that was their number of goals on the road, with them netting 28 goals away from home in all competitions.

With new attackers including Kieffer Moore following his £2million move from Sheffield United available to Phil Parkinson now, Wrexham have a good chance to put themselves top of the tree in terms of goals on the road as they continue pushing up the football pyramid.

However, there are six teams in the mix that are either level or ahead of them, and one club they failed to beat last season are in the lead.

Leyton Orient have scored the most away goals in 2025

In all competitions across 2025, it’s League One Leyton Orient that have scored the most goals, with a tally of 36.

Premier League Brighton and Hove Albion make it into the top two, netting 32 in total.

Swindon Town come in third, with 29, with Bradford City, Doncaster Rovers and Fleetwood Town sitting level with Wrexham’s 28.

Charlie Kelman, who was on loan at Orient from Queens Park Rangers last season, won the League One golden boot after netting 21 goals in the league and scoring six more in other competitions, aiding Orient to sit top of the charts.

Kelman moved on to Charlton Athletic in a permanent deal this summer, but Orient have done their best in the summer transfer window to replace his goals.

Aaron Connolly has signed from Millwall, while Dom Ballard has joined permanently from Southampton.

Both players were on the scoresheet in the recent 3-2 victory at Port Vale, with manager Richie Wellens’ son, Charlie, scoring the winner.

Orient will be hoping they can continue to fire in more on the road.
