Sky Sports pundit says Leeds United have pulled off ‘a great deal’ for ‘a Championship club’

Leeds United are looking to escape the Championship this season and have already begun making deals in 2024/25.

Claims Leeds United are falling apart again emerged in late March and earlier this month, following what appeared to be the start of another collapse.

The Peackocks bottled a top-two finish in the Championship last season but don’t look set to make that mistake again.

Instead, it is Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United who have faltered, allowing Burnley and Leeds to take the top two places.

Promotion to the Premier League is still not guaranteed, of course, but it is now very likely for the Yorkshire outfit.

As they begin to prepare for life back in the top flight, Leeds have sanctioned a transfer this week.

Leeds United sale of Rasmus Kristensen praised by Sky Sports pundit

Leeds signed Rasmus Kristensen from RB Salzburg in 2022, but the player has not seen much playing time at Elland Road in recent years.

He only lined out in the Premier League and FA Cup for the Whites, instead spending much of his time out on loan at AS Roma and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Now, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has reacted to Kristensen signing permanently for the latter in a deal believed to be worth £7.7m this week.

He told Football League World: “I think if you’re a Championship club, and at the moment Leeds still are, and you can get £7.7 million for a player that hasn’t been a part of your plans and who’s not likely to be part of your plans then it’s a great deal.

“Obviously, his only real appearances for Leeds were in the Premier League, and then when they got relegated, like many, many Leeds players they had clauses in contracts that allowed them to go out on loan, and he did that.

“Went to Roma, played plenty enough for them and obviously this season at Eintracht Frankfurt he’s playing on a very, very regular basis. So, I think it’s a win-win for all parties.”

How Rasmus Kristensen feels about Leeds United exit

Not too surprisingly, given he hasn’t played for the club for some time, Kristensen is pretty happy about landing a permanent exit.

On joining Frankfurt this week, he told the club’s official website: “I felt very comfortable in Frankfurt from the start and my family has also settled in very well here. I fought hard to be able to play for Eintracht longer, and I want to repay the trust placed in me with continued good performances.

“I’m eager for the final stretch of the season and for the future in Frankfurt.”

Leeds fans probably aren’t too concerned about seeing the full-back depart and are now likely focused on how his transfer fee can help them going forward.

With a place in the Premier League pending, it’s imperative they spend their money wisely, especially after Roy Keane’s warning to Leeds about promotion.
