After relegation from the Premier League and an almost record low points haul, it’s not surprising that we saw so many Southampton transfers this summer.
Will Still inherited a fairly talented squad when he took over at Southampton. Despite their poor showing in the Premier League, the Saints were well-equipped to go again in the Championship.
However, Still has seen a number of top players depart the club, most notably Tyler Dibling. Thankfully, Southampton had the luxury of spending more than any team in the Championship this summer.
So, where did all that money go? Here’s a rundown of all the confirmed Southampton transfers ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Incoming Southampton transfers this summer
Southampton were tipped as promotion contenders in the early predictions for 2025/26 Championship, and made a positive start towards that trajectory in the summer window with the acquisition of Joshua Quarshie.
The 20-year-old arrived from Hoffenheim earlier in June for a fee in the region of £3m, seeing Still’s first summer signing at Southampton pen a four-year deal.
Centre-back Quarshie spent last season on loan at Greuther Furth from Hoffenheim. Southampton technical director Johannes Spors told the club: “His outstanding athleticism makes him a natural fit for the energetic playing style our new manager hopes to implement.”
Later in the window, Damion Downs arrived from FC Koln for around £7m. Will Still branded Downs as a ‘quality’ striker during pre-season, but he’s yet to showcase that in the second tier.
With work still to be done, Southampton made big moves towards the end of the window. Tom Fellows signed from West Brom and Finn Azaz joined from Middlesbrough for £12m.
It went under the radar a little, but Southampton also beat Paris FC to the signing of Leo Scienza.
Players Southampton have signed this summer:
- Joshua Quarshie (£3m, from Hoffenheim)
- Finn Azaz (£12m, from Middlesbrough)
- Caspar Jander (£10.3m, from FC Nuremberg)
- Tom Fellows (£8m, from West Brom)
- Leo Scienza (£7.75m, from Heidenheim)
- Damion Downs (£7m, from FC Koln)
- Elias Jelert (loan, from Galatasaray)
- Mads Roerslev (undisclosed fee, from Brentford)
- George Long (loan, from Norwich City)
Overall, Southampton spent around £48m this summer. However, thanks to big-money sales, those Southampton transfers still resulted in a positive net spend, with over £62m profit.

Every confirmed Southampton departure this summer
Veterans Kyle Walker-Peters, Adam Lallana and Joe Lumley all departed upon the expiry of their contracts, with young winger Samuel Amo-Ameyaw joining Ligue 1 side Strasbourg permanently after his loan spell for a fee estimated to be in the region of £6m according to Transfermarkt.
After a long saga, Tyler Dibling joined Everton for around £35m. The Saints then got around £38m for Mateus Fernandes, who joined West Ham. While Southampton were gutted to lose the pair, they knew they got good money for them.
Southampton also sent the likes of Ben Brereton Diaz, Aaron Ramsdale, and Will Smallbone out on loan for the season.
