Stats point to an obvious winner between Coventry City and QPR in the Championship this weekend

Coventry City and QPR are set to do battle in the Championship this weekend, with the two clubs looking to secure a win for different reasons.

QPR are looking for their first win of the campaign, as they suffered defeat last weekend to a 10-man Watford and were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Plymouth Argyle, while earning a draw against Preston North End in the opening game of their campaign.

Meanwhile, Coventry City confirmed their first win of the Championship season last weekend as they managed to overcome Derby County in an entertaining affair at Pride Park as they won 5-3.

While both sides will have a belief that they can win this fixture, the stats point to only one winner between the two sides this weekend when they meet at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Stats point to a Coventry City victory

Coventry City are the club entering this match in better form, as QPR have yet to taste victory this season, while Frank Lampard’s side have not experienced a defeat this campaign.

Opta make Coventry strong favourites for this game, as they have given them a win probability percentage of 54.3%, while only giving QPR a 22.2% chance of securing the three points.

It must also be noted that QPR have struggled this year away from home in the Championship, having lost seven of their last 10 away league games, while in 2025, only three sides have lost more in the division than their 11.

Meanwhile, Coventry will look to build on their recent form against QPR, as they have won four of their last six league games against QPR.

Frank Lampard will look to achieve a piece of history with the club this weekend, looking to build upon their impressive start to the campaign, should they avoid defeat, then Coventry will go unbeaten across their opening three games of a league season for the first time since 2019-20.

Coventry are hopeful this fixture is not Bobby Thomas’ last game for the club

The Sky Blues have seen their defender Bobby Thomas become the subject of transfer interest from a number of clubs, including Sheffield United, who have made an £8 million bid.

It has been claimed by the Star that Coventry will need to find a replacement for the defender before allowing him to leave, should he leave.

Thomas is now into his third season as a Sky Blue and has started both of their league games this term, against Derby County and Hull City, as well as last week’s Carabao Cup clash versus Luton Town.

So he is a key piece of Coventry City, and there will be hope among fans that they can keep hold of him, especially from a Championship rival.
