Stunning Elland Road statistic highlights Leeds United’s key to success under Daniel Farke this season

Leeds United can begin building towards Premier League football in 2025/26 once they get Plymouth Argyle out of the way this weekend.

It’s a game of significance in that it will decide the winner of the Championship title. Leeds’ vastly superior goal difference makes them favourites over Burnley and to get to 100 points.

Leeds have decisions to make on a number of players and contracts like Junior Firpo’s could be renewed. However, they will want to end the season in style in Devon. Should they win by a big enough margin, Leeds could also break Reading FC’s record for goal difference.

Leeds have some of the best players in the Championship and Daniel Farke’s side have smashed numerous records this season to get back to the top flight at the second time of asking.

Leeds’ clinical goalscoring at Elland Road’s Kop end

The Whites will end the season with the best home form in the Championship, having won 58 points. Only Birmingham City have beaten that tally in English football’s top four tiers (61). The 18 wins are the most they have ever managed in a season at home as well.

They have also scored 61 goals in their 23 home matches after the 4-0 and 6-0 wins this week over Stoke City and Bristol City respectively. Their relentlessness on home soil has underpinned a successful campaign.

Leeds finished their home matches for the season having scored a total of 61 league goals at Elland Road in 2024/25, which is bettered only by 63 in 1927/28. The ability to dominate with the crowd has been apparent almost all season, with points dropped in just five home matches.

Including the 1-0 win over Harrogate Town in the FA Cup, Leeds have scored 62 goals at home. The statistic which is perhaps most impressive is the split in terms of goals, though. That is because 41 have been scored at the Don Revie end — also known as the Kop end, and 21 at the Norman Hunter South Stand end of the pitch.

As Joe Donnohue of The Yorkshire Evening Post outlines, there is an ongoing narrative among many Leeds fans that goals are famously scored at the Kop end, which has been absolutely true this season. It is perhaps down to how well Leeds are able to both start and end games but has been vital this season.

Leeds’ fast starts and strong ends have been crucial this season

No team comes close to the 93 goals they have scored this season in the league, which is the second-highest in the club’s entire history after 98 goals scored in 1927/28. But no one can match their record early and late in games, either.

There have been 18 goals scored in the first 15 minutes and 24 scored in the last 15 minutes of Leeds’ games, which is 45.16% of all the team’s goals in just 33% of the minutes they play. No other side can top those in the division.

It is a fun quirk that they prefer to attack the Kop, though, and one they will hope continues into next season to help bridge the gap to the Premier League. They have some of the best players in the division, but they will need to invest the Premier League money wisely.
