EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that Swansea City are set to lose a key member of staff just six months into their tenure.

It’s been all change at Swansea this summer after Alan Sheehan was awarded the job on a permanent basis following his strong end to the 2024/25 campaign.

Luka Modric is now a minority owner of the Swans too, leading to all sorts of speculation about who could be coming to south Wales.

Swansea’s business has been interesting this summer after they spent £7m to sign Adam Idah from Celtic.

That was thanks to work behind the scenes, but they seem likely to lose a key member of staff.

Swansea director of football set for Brentford switch

According to our sources at EFL Analysis, director of football Richard Montague is set to leave his position after only six months in the role.

Appointed in February, sources have told us that Montague has been left frustrated by the exit and believes that he wasn’t given enough time to carry out his job.

It’s believed that Sheehan and Montague both had opposing views, which could allegedly cause some tensions behind the scenes.

Montague’s next destination is currently unknown.

What is a director of football?

In recent years, the director of football position has become one of the most important at a club.

Usually, a director of football is responsible for managing all on-pitch operations, including hiring and firing managers, as well as negotiating new transfers.

They work across the board at both senior and youth level to ensure that the club is aligned from top to bottom and can all work in conjunction with each other.

Famous faces to have held this kind of role include Luis Campos, Paul Mitchell, Dan Ashworth and others.
