Middlesbrough remain in with a chance of securing promotion to the Premier League this season, though it’s unlikely to happen.
After drawing with Norwich City last time out, Middlesbrough dropped down to ninth in the Championship table.
It means their fate is no longer in their own hands going into the final week of the 2024/25 season.
Right now, Coventry City and Bristol City are favourites for the top-six, joining Sheffield United and Sunderland in the play-off battle in May.

While a lot has gone wrong at Boro this season, one of the biggest blows came in the form of an injury to Ben Doak.

Ben Doak tipped to play in Premier League
Doak arrived at the Riverside Stadium on loan from Premier League champions Liverpool on transfer deadline day.
The Scotmans has since lit up the North East, proving an absolute nightmare for Championship defences to deal with.
Doak has three goals and seven assists in the second tier this term, but has been out of action since January 25 with an injury.
The loanee is set to leave the North East next month, and after such an impressive stint, talkSPORT pundit Phil Spencer has been waxing lyrical about the winger and backed him to get ‘a crack at the Premier League’.
He wrote: “Watching Ben Doak for Middlesbrough has been one of the highlights of the season for me.
“Such a talent and I’m very excited to see what next season has in store for him – surely he deserves a crack at the Premier League.”

Ben Doak sends goodbye to Middlesbrough
Without Doak, Boro have picked up just six wins from their last 16 Championship matches.
His loan is due to expire on May 30, 2025, but injury means the player is already saying his goodbyes to the club before the campaign has even finished.
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, the Liverpool loanee wrote: “Not the way i wanted to finish this season off through injury, but what a time I’ve had here.
“Thanks to all the players, staff, and fans at Middlesbrough for making my time at the club as good as what it was.
“I will be forever grateful and wish everyone at the club the best of luck for the future. UTB.”
