‘That is the difference’… Leeds United fans have a lot to say about Burnley after big promotion blow vs QPR

The battle for automatic promotion has taken another turn following Leeds United and Burnley’s fixtures on Saturday.

Leeds United started the weekend top of the division with a two-point lead over Sheffield United, who were sat second.

As for Burnley, they were down in third place and really needed a victory this weekend to keep their hopes of automatic promotion alive.

Daniel Farke’s men were in action during one of the day’s early kick-offs, taking on Queens Park Rangers.

In the end, Leeds drew 2-2 with QPR, having to fight back from two goals down to rescue a point.

Burnley had no such problems when they faced off with Swansea City in one of Saturday’s 3pm Championship meetings.

Leeds United fans worried after Burnley dominate Swansea City

The Clarets found themselves 2-0 up after just 22 minutes against the Welsh outfit thanks to goals from Josh Brownhill and Jaidon Anthony.

After watching their promotion rivals completely dominate Swansea in their meeting, Leeds fans have now taken to social media to express concern about the promotion race.

One fan wrote: “Burnley is a real problem if we don’t sort ourselves out. We need to stop conceding sloppy goals.”

A second wrote: “Does anyone actually think Leeds are in control of this league? Seems to be that Burnley have got it right where they want it… coming into stride whilst we are faltering in the final 10 yet again.”

A third added: “They are weak. Burnley are playing a similar team and smashing them. That’s the difference #lufc. 1 win in 4.”

“The absolute difference between us and Sheffield United and Burnley. Mentality They would not be happy with a point v QPR. They go to those teams and expect to win. The team, manager and fan base are weak as —-,” another claimed.

A fifth Leeds fan stated: “Very likely to end the weekend the way it was last weekend.. Level with Sheffield United and 2 points ahead of Burnley.. Could and should be much better.. Hitting a blip for sure.”

While a sixth simply wrote: “Burnley already 1 up. Thats how it’s done,” and another added: “In the context of the game it was a good point. In the context of a promotion race, it was 2 points dropped. Burnley already 2-0 up away at Swansea and that is the difference. Gnonto must start and we need Ampadu back quick.”

Pressure now on Sheffield United vs Sheffield Wednesday

It’s not just Burnley and Leeds who are in the race for automatic promotion this season though.

Sheffield United were second ahead of the latest gameweek but have now been overtaken by the Clarets for the time being.

However, Chris Wilder’s side face Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday and will once again move level on points with Leeds if they secure a win.
