Tommy Conway is among the Middlesbrough players to have spoken out after the 2024/25 season came to a close.
Middlesbrough lost to Coventry City on the final day of the normal season, ending their hopes of a top-six finish.
Boro finished the campaign in 10th place, the lowest since Michael Carrick became manager in 2022.
Carrick’s future on Teesside has since been called into question, with potential replacements already mooted.
We understand Gary O’Neil is interested in returning to Middlesbrough should the role become available.
Steve Gibson is yet to make a decision on the manager’s future, while a number of players have now reflected on the season.

Tommy Conway shares what ‘cost’ Middlesbrough in 2024/25
Tommy Conway joined Middlesbrough in the 2024 summer transfer window from Bristol City.
He was competing with Emmanuel Latte Lath in the first half of the season before the former’s transfer to the MLS.
Conway started the club’s final 15 Championship matches after his return from injury and scored 13 and assisted one in 36 outings.
He’s since taken to social media to share what ‘cost’ Middlesbrough after they came up short in the play-off race.
The striker wrote: “We’re frustrated and disappointed in how the season ended, it wasn’t the goal we set out and ultimately our inconsistency cost us.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute & had the best first season, so thank you for all your support to me & the boys! Have a good summer & I’ll see you all soon.”
Neto Borges and Delano Burgzorg react to Middlesbrough season
Conway is not the only player to speak out following the 2024/25 season ending for the North East side.
Taking to Instagram, Delano Burgzorg wrote: “The season came to an end… at the end we didn’t make it to the play-offs. I know we deserved more, but at the end we have to jump over all the obstacles and go again.
“I want to thank all the fans for the support you where brilliant. Now lets clear our minds enjoy our vacation and see you next season.”
Neto Borges stated on his social media: “The season is over, as a team we didn’t achieve our goals, I have no answers as to why things didn’t go the way we wanted, the fans were amazing and deserved more, we’ll be back.”
