West Brom are still looking to find their replacement for Tony Mowbray after he was sacked following his now former side’s 3-1 defeat to Derby County on Easter Monday.
The Baggies ended the season in ninth in the Championship, overtaking Middlesbrough on the final day thanks to their 5-3 win over Luton Town, relegating the Hatters in successive seasons in the process.

However, for West Brom, it was not the year that many had planned out as they lost two managers in the space of four months, with James Morrison leading the team for the final few games.
A replacement for Mowbray is still being sought, with Ryan Mason one of the leading candidates take charge at The Hawthorns. However, as per Alan Nixon, they could be forced to wait for one of their top choices, due to Tottenham Hotspur’s European run.
West Brom’s potential Ryan Mason deal has been held up
Ryan Mason is one of those being touted for the vacancy in the West Midlands after impressing with Spurs during interim periods and as a coach.

West Brom are keen to see the former Hull City player make his way to The Hawthorns in the coming weeks, but his current club’s progression in the Europa League has halted the momentum of any move.
While there is no rush for the Baggies to find a new manager, Tottenham’s run is allowing other candidates to move forward in the race for the hotseat in B71, and victory over Bodo/Glimt in the second leg would see a further delay.
Nevertheless, the Europa League final is on May 21, and Mason would still have plenty of time to make his mark and help out with recruitment plans over the course of the entirety of the summer if a deal was to be made in the following days.
West Brom will be preparing for a busy summer
After a flying start to the season, West Brom were forced to watch the promotion battle unfold from mid-table. Owner Shilen Patel is already looking towards 2025/26, with this year one that the club need to put behind them.
In April, EFL Analysis revealed more on Tom Fellow’s future, with the Baggies expecting him to depart the club in the summer transfer window and Mason could have funds behind him to help rebuild this squad ready for a play-off charge next season.
It is imperative that they find themselves back in the hunt for the top six this time next year, with it now four years since the club last played Premier League football.
Mason has quality as a coach, and while it has not worked out under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, he has proven in the past that he is ready to lead a team of his own and the project at The Hawthorns could be the perfect place to start.
