EFL Analysis has gained an insight into when Rob Edwards will be announced by Middlesbrough and an update on his backroom staff.

We reported earlier this week that Middlesbrough had agreed a deal with Luton Town for Rob Edwards, who was placed on gardening leave earlier this year.

The manager has been out of work since leaving the Hatters in early January before their eventual relegation to League One.

An insight into why Middlesbrough are appointing Edwards has been shared, as well as why Boro didn’t end up moving for Steve Cooper, who was the first-choice option.

And we can now confirm when the former Luton man will finally be unveiled as Michael Carrick’s replacement.

When Middlesbrough will announce Rob Edwards and backroom staff update

We revealed earlier in the week that Harry Watling will be Edwards’ number two at Middlesbrough.

Now, EFL Analysis has gained a further insight into who will be joining the manager’s backroom team this season via our transfer correspondent, Graeme Bailey.

We understand that Edwards’ appointment will be made official on Monday.

The deal is all done, and the manager has been at Rockliffe, but Middlesbrough have just been sorting out the backroom staff.

Watling, we have already mentioned, but EFL Analysis understands that Adi Viveash is likely to come in too.

Who is Adi Viveash

After retiring from playing in 2007, Viveash took up his first role in management with Cirencester Town.

He then enjoyed several successful years with Chelsea, acting as their U18 and U21 manager before departing in 2017.

Viveash then joined Coventry City as assistant manager to Mark Robins in July 2017, where he helped bring about two promotions in three seasons.

The 55-year-old went on to leave the Sky Blues in July 2024, just over a year after he had signed a new four-year contract.
