Blackburn Rovers supporters have witnessed their campaign unravel into a nightmare since John Eustace jumped ship, slipping down the Championship table at an alarming rate.
In the middle of February, Blackburn Rovers had every chance of making the top six as the former Premier League champions were sat in fifth position after a 2-0 win over West Brom on February 12th.
Just a day later, Eustace joined relegation-threatened Derby County instead of staying at a club challenging for the play-offs, raising more question marks over the ownership.
Since then, former Watford boss Valerian Ismael has replaced Eustace in the dugout and it’s been a nightmare start to his career at Ewood Park, winning just one of his first eight matches in charge.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 8 | 42 | 17 | 9 | 16 | 61 | 51 | 10 | 60 | |

| 12 | 42 | 15 | 9 | 18 | 45 | 51 | -6 | 54 |
Rovers are now sat in 10th position in the Championship with no chance of making the top six and they could already be looking to part company with the 49-year-old.

Blackburn Rovers want Wayne Rooney to replace Valerian Ismael
The Frenchman was hired by Blackburn to continue the solid foundations laid by Eustace but unfortunately, the Championship side have trended in the opposite direction.
Ismael is now under increasing pressure to save his job after just two months, and according to talkSPORT, Wayne Rooney is a contender to step into the hot seat.
Rooney has been out of work since being sacked by Plymouth Argyle in December after winning just five of 25 games in charge.
The former Manchester United striker was also a complete failure during his time at Birmingham City, ironically replacing Eustace in the dugout and then only lasting 83 days before facing the chop.
Blackburn fans already dislike the Venky’s and hiring someone like Rooney to replace Ismael would only anger them even more.
Rooney’s managerial record is grim
During his time in management, Rooney has only done a decent job at Derby County, failing at DC United, Birmingham and Plymouth.
The 39-year-old would be lucky to land another job in the second tier, as he’s already proven he’s tactically inept despite spending almost a decade playing under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
| Wayne Rooney’s managerial record |
| 179 matches |
| 45 wins |
| 46 draws |
| 88 losses |
| 25.1% |
Rooney has barely mustered a 25% win percentage across his four managerial roles, telling of his struggles to implement a style and philosophy that works.
At Birmingham, he took them from the play-offs to battling relegation while when Plymouth hired Rooney, he was expected to keep them up but instead contributed to their downfall.
So, it’s crazy that the Venky’s could be considering Rooney as a managerial option, though judging by their previous decision-making, it’s not a surprise.
