Leeds United clashed with QPR over the weekend with one of the Whites’ players proving Crysencio Summerville was 100 percent right about him.
After losing out to Southampton in the play-offs last time out, Leeds United are now looking to secure promotion via the automatic places in 2024/25.
Daniel Farke’s men have dominated the Championship in terms of goals scored this season but the battle for the title remains very tight.
Sheffield United beat Sheffield Wednesday over the weekend, while Burnley dispatched Swansea City with ease.
Meanwhile, Leeds drew 2-2 with QPR, seeing the Yorkshire outfit end the weekend just two points above third with eight games of the season left to play.

It was a mixed showing from Leeds, but one man certainly proved he has a lot to offer in the remaining two months of 2024/25.

Crysencio Summerville was 100 percent right about Wilfried Gnonto
Goals from Koki Saito and Steve Cook saw Farke and co. 2-0 down at Loftus Road with just 30 minutes on the clock.
The Peacocks did pull one goal back before half-time but it was still a disappointing first 45 that led Farke to make a change at the break.
Leeds fans slammed Brenden Aaronson versus QPR after the midfielder was taken off after just 45 minutes.
His replacement on the day was Wilfried Gnonto, who supporters believed did more in his brief cameo versus The Rs than Aaronson has done for some time.
Gnonto has seen his league minutes limited in 2025, with his 45-minute outing over the weekend the 21-year-old’s longest since a clash with Derby County on December 29th.
But while Farke has not been starting the Italian much, Crysencio Summerville has known for some time that the Leeds ace was destined for big things.
The Whites beat Coventry City 3-0 on September 28th, 2024, with Gnonto bagging one goal and one assist.
Following that game, Summerville took to the comment section of the winger’s post to write: “Your time my boy.”

Given, as Leeds fans made clear, Aaronson has been out of form for some time and Gnonto was so impactful off the bench against QPR, it does now seem very likely the previously fringe star will be handed a more prominent role in the final eight games of the season, proving Summerville was spot on with his assessment all the way back in September.
Danie Farke comments on Wilfried Gnonto after impressing vs QPR
Gnonto has played the majority of his games this season out wide but replaced Aaronson in the 10 role on Saturday.
On the 21-year-old featuring through the middle, Farke said after QPR, as per The Athletic: “It’s a bit difficult for him because he’s naturally not a central player. He’s more of a winger and we have our in-form wingers with Daniel James and Manor Solomon. In his position, it’s tough for him.
“Although I like him so much and he delivers relentless work, also in training, to improve, and had also some good cameos when he came in, he has perhaps not convinced at No 10.
He added: “This was what he did in the second half (on Saturday), perhaps not with his pressing load, but he played a decisive pass before we equalised. He was involved in this goal and it was a good performance.”
While Farke may not have previously been 100 percent convinced Gnonto can thrive as a 10, it’s clear that, right now, he is a much better option than the man he replaced on Saturday.
Leeds return to action against Swansea City on March 29th and it’s obvious Gnonto should be given another chance to shine through the middle in that match.
