Leeds United travel to Plymouth Argyle this Saturday knowing they must win to secure the Championship title.

If they want to end the season with promotion, the title and 100 points they need to not give Plymouth any room for an upset.

Plymouth have nothing to lose at this point with the Pilgrims being effectively relegated already unless they pull off the unbelieveale.

Given the need for three points, but also the fact it’s the last game of the season, Daniel Farke could choose to bring in one ‘confident striker.’

Daniel Farke’s words of wisdom for young Harry Gray

While the normal suspects might include Joel Piroe and Manor Solomon, Farke could surprise everyone by handing a start to Gray.

Leeds United’s ‘special talent’ Harry Gray took a big step vs Stoke City, as part of an extraordinary nine days, including joining in with promotion merrymakings later in the day.

He was then included in the matchday squad for the 4-0 win over Bristol City, ahead of on-pitch celebrations with the fans after full-time.

Gray then scored what turned out to be the winning goal in the Under-21s’ win over Sutton United in the National League Cup final a day later, on Tuesday.

The manager disclosed he has spoken to the youngster about his passionate celebrations at Elland Road given the lack of game time he has had and the development he still has ahead of him.

Farke said of Gray: “Sixteen years old, eight minutes of Championship football and we are speaking about the Premier League.

“So I would strongly recommend to calm down just because his last name is Gray it doesn’t mean he will cut the Premier League into pieces.

“He behaves himself with a bit of confidence, you could see with the celebrations. I had a little chat with him after the last celebrations.

“I told him, ‘Harry, great how you celebrate but at one point I had more or less the feeling you won the title all alone for us, so relax a little bit!’

“But on the other hand, I’ve got a soft spot for strikers. It’s quite good when a striker has some confidence because it can sometimes be a lonely world as a striker.”

While Farke warned against too much hype, this very spirit could lead the manager to make a bold decision for this last game of the season and include the youngster versus Plymouth, offering a new surprising attacking threat for the Pilgrims to deal with.

Patrick Bamford could have his last run out for the Yorkshire side

On the other end of the experience scope is Patrick Bamford, given his history with the club and the possibility for this to be his final appearance, Farke might opt for his seasoned presence and the hope that he can rediscover his scoring touch in this crucial moment, representing a different kind of ‘confident’ selection.

This season, a hamstring injury has prevented Bamford from securing as much game time as in recent seasons.

He returned to team training in March 2025, gradually coming back into match-day squads.

Given there’s only one match to go, he has made 11 appearances with no goals.

Ahead of Leeds’ last home game of the season versus Stoke City, he put £5k behind the bar at The Old Peacock.

Patrick Bamford’s incredible act for Leeds United fans has fuelled speculation he may be following in the footsteps of club legends and leaving Elland Road this summer.

In light of this, Farke could give him one last run out for the Yorkshire side, meaning the manager has some tough decisions to make in terms of who makes the final squad of the season, the experienced club legend, or the next generation going into the Premier League.

Either way, Leeds will want the three points to secure their Championship title and seal off a stellar season of football.
