Marti Cifuentes should hand professional debut to promising Leicester City youngster vs Huddersfield Town

It was a winning start to life as Leicester City manager for Marti Cifuentes.

The Foxes beat Sheffield Wednesday after coming from behind at the King Power Stadium.

Harry Winks changed the game for Leicester and Cifuentes, who is endearing himself to supporters, already now has little time to dwell before his next game.

Huddersfield Town await in the first round of the Carabao Cup and after starting their League One campaign off with two wins, will be a tough test.

Cifuentes has a plethora of options available to him and one of them is ready to make his professional debut.

Louis Page should be picked for Huddersfield vs Leicester

Everyone knows about talented Foxes youngster Jeremy Monga, but he is one in a long line of talented players that are coming through the Leicester academy.

Louis Page recently turned 17 and featured heavily in pre-season, as did Olabade Aluko and Jake Evans.

Page was the standout though and even grabbed two goals in pre-season against Peterborough United.

Ahead of the Wednesday game, Cifuentes described Page as a “young one who can play as an eight or as a 10” and named him alongside regular first-team talents.

He was on the bench for the opening day of the season and a game against a well-drilled Huddersfield side could be the perfect place to get his first taste of senior football.

Leicester are putting their faith in the academy

Money is tight at the King Power Stadium and Cifuentes is focused on cutting down the squad instead of bringing new additions in.

On paper, the squad is one of, if not, the best in the Championship but a new era is dawning in the East Midlands.

Jakub Stolarczyk was signed as a teenager but learned his trade in the Leicester academy, centre-back Ben Nelson is ready to compete for a spot and Luke Thomas is the first-choice left-back.

Elsewhere, there are more seasoned academy talents like Hamza Choudhury still at the Foxes and plenty more in the ranks like Monga, Will Alves and a whole host knocking on the door.

It’s a strong core that could form the base of a Leicester squad for the next five-10 years. Who knows what’s possible in that time?
