Chris Davies is aiming to assemble his Birmingham City squad with some quality firepower ahead of their Championship return.
After storming to the League One title at a record-breaking pace, all eyes are on the business Birmingham City conduct in the summer transfer window.
With Tom Wagner setting his sights on promotion, the Blues are assessing their attacking options, and there’s a clear emphasis on improving their attack.
Birmingham are interested in signing Kwame Poku from Peterborough United, although he now looks set to join Rangers on a free transfer. The Midlands outfit have also been linked with a sensational return for Demarai Gray, but his staggering wages make completing a deal an issue.
NEC Nijmegen star Sontje Hansen is of interest to Birmingham, too, in what promises to be an incredibly busy summer transfer window at St Andrews.

What Daniel Farke has said about Birmingham City target Mateo Joseph
Birmingham could source talent from Premier League clubs this summer, and that explains why they’ve shown an interest in Leeds United striker Mateo Joseph, according to GIVEMESPORT.
Joseph was used sporadically by Daniel Farke last term, returning three goals and three assists from 12 Championship starts, with a preference for Joel Piroe to lead his attack.
Leeds are now willing to sell the 21-year-old as they aim to bolster their attack in the Premier League, and Farke’s previous comments on the young Spaniard suggest why he’d fit perfectly into Birmingham’s system.
Speaking after the win against Coventry City in September, Farke was complimentary of Joseph’s all-round game, suggesting his link-up play and ability to hold off defenders were crucial.
“I’m happy with what Mateo’s delivering. As a striker you’re only 100 per cent if you score game after game, but I don’t rate him in output of just goals. His link-up play is excellent and how he holds defenders,” Farke said via the Yorkshire Post.
“For example the third goal, Joel Piroe, everyone is speaking about Ao Tanaka and the really good assist of Willy.
“But I praise Mateo, under pressure keeps the ball against aggressive forward defending to keep possession and bring the midfielders into a good position. Without this, it’s not possible seven seconds later Joel Piroe scores.”

Joseph could offer healthy competition for Jay Stansfield
Joseph, who is currently starring for Spain’s under-21s at the Euro Championship, can offer healthy competition for Jay Stansfield next season.
Birmingham’s record signing enjoyed a prolific campaign with 19 goals in 37 appearances. Meanwhile, during his last season in the second tier, he netted 12 times.

Stansfield will be expected to fire home double figures once more, and with the help of Joseph in attack, that is a realistic aim.
The Leeds youngster can either start alongside him in attack, utilising his incredible link-up play to create a lethal combination, or become the perfect option to replace him from the bench.
