EFL Analysis have confirmed that Birmingham City have agreed a deal for a highly-rated Premier League goalkeeper this week.

Birmingham City are set for an ‘aggressive’ summer transfer window with one player already through the door.

Birmingham are targeting five key positions going into the new season, one of which is a new goalkeeper.

The Blues had shown an interest in Bournemouth shot-stopper Mark Travers, but have now completed a deal for another top-flight keeper.

Birmingham City agree deal with Brighton for James Beadle

EFL Analysis understands that Birmingham City have agreed a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign highly-rated goalkeeper James Beadle.

As we revealed, Birmingham have been looking for a new number one and had looked at Mark Travers at Bournemouth – but now they have agreed terms with Beadle, who is one of the most impressive young goalkeepers in the Premier League.

As it stands, it is an initial loan deal for next season – Brighton believe he could yet succeed Bart Verbruggen.

We understand Birmingham beat a number of clubs to his signature, from the Championship and abroad.

He has since enjoyed loan spells with Crewe Alexandra, Oxford United and most recently, Sheffield Wednesday.

The 20-year-old made 38 Championship appearances for the Owls in the most recent campaign, keeping nine clean sheets.

He is also an England U21 international with six caps for the Three Lions.
