Birmingham City have flexed their financial muscles in the summer transfer window, and their plans to blow the Championship out of the water look set to continue.
After obliterating their competition in League One and storming to the title, Birmingham City are hotly tipped to secure successive promotions and a return to the Premier League.
Everyone knew that Birmingham would have an aggressive transfer window, but few could have imagined the sort of personnel they’d attract to the club, most notably a £10 million deal for Celtic hero Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Japanese maverick is joined by an abundance of new signings in Chris Davies’ squad, with the Blues utilising the Premier League loan market to their advantage.
Birmingham signed Tommy Doyle on loan from Wolves, along with James Beadle from Brighton. Now, they’re close to raiding the Seagulls for another of their young talents.

Birmingham City have won the race for Eiran Cashin
Davies has focused on improving all areas of his squad this summer, knowing the Championship is a huge step up from the third tier.
The Midlands outfit have strengthened at centre-back with the capture of Phil Neumann from Hannover 96, but they’re still looking for a left-footed defender to potentially partner Christoph Klarer.
Fortunately, journalist Neil Moxley has revealed that Birmingham have won the race for Brighton centre-back Eiran Cashin.
The 23-year-old will join the Blues on a season-long loan after news broke on Wednesday that they were leading the race for his signature.
Cashin is an excellent ball-playing, left-footed centre-back who was incredible in the Championship with Derby County before being snapped up by the Seagulls in January.
It’s another brilliant signing for Birmingham during this transfer window, and former manager Wayne Rooney will be pleased for him.

What Wayne Rooney has said about Cashin
Rooney will be remembered by Birmingham supporters as one of their worst managers ever but during his time at Derby, the former Manchester United striker was credited for blooding through the youth.

One player he noticed in the under-21s was Cashin, and he handed him his first-team debut for the Rams in December 2021 before using him a further 17 times during that campaign.
Weeks after handing him his debut, Rooney was quick to praise Cashin as ‘outstanding’, saying: “I told him to enjoy it [his debut]. I had trust in Cash coming in, and he was outstanding. I have seen an improvement in him this season.
“It is hard to gauge from U23s football but there are details you look at. I then bring the players up for a few weeks to train with us and see how they settle in with that, and the lads have been outstanding. The message? I have not put any pressure on them [the young players]. They are good players. They wouldn’t be playing if I didn’t think they can.”
