Blackburn Rovers are starting to make moves in the transfer market, bringing in their first signing of the summer just over a week ago in the shape of Dion de Neve.

The Belgian joined Rovers from KV Kortrijk on a three-year deal as Valérien Ismaël looks to shape his squad to his liking in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by Piotr Kozminski that Blackburn Rovers are in the hunt to sign Legia Warsaw defender Steve Kapuadi, alongside Wolves and Union Berlin.

The DR Congo international may be seen by Rovers as a replacement for Dion Sanderson, who is returning to Birmingham City, and Danny Batth, who may not sign a contract extension to remain in Lancashire.

Blackburn Rovers fans have been posting on social media after hearing about the rumours of Kapuadi moving to the club for a reported €5m valuation from Legia.

Blackburn Rovers fans react to the Steve Kapuadi transfer rumours

Steve Kapuadi is the latest name to be linked to Blackburn Rovers this summer as a potential signing for the Lancashire club as they look to revitalise the club with a number of signings to help their Championship ambitions.

Fans from Blackburn have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the rumours around the DR Congo international, with the majority of fans believing the club have no chance of signing the defender.

One fan wrote on social media: “He doesn’t want to come; we don’t want to pay the valuation, yet we still waste time with a smaller bid?”

Another fan agreed with this sentiment entirely as they said: “Willing to offer 2m for a player worth 5m who doesn’t even want to join the Championship?”

One fan did not believe the club were actually in contention for the player, with the rumours just being a way to appease fans; they said: “Feel like so many of these rumours are just names thrown out there by the club to try and appease us.”

While another fan was annoyed at the negativity around the rest of the fanbase about the rumours, as they said: “So now Blackburn can’t do anything right to people on here. If we paid 5m for an unknown, you will be moaning with a season left on his contract to run 2 million. It isn’t enough.”

Who is Steve Kapuadi?

Steve Kapuadi is a central defender currently employed by Legia Warsaw, who also represents DR Congo at the international level.

He began his senior career with Gent in 2016 before moving to Inter Bratislava in 2019, before moving to their partner club the next year, Trenčín.

At Trenčín he would play 25 times across two seasons before leaving Slovakia for Poland to join Wisła Płock, where he would spend a season.

In 2023, Legia Warsaw would sign the 27-year-old, and it is where he has remained since, with the defender impressing in the club’s European campaign in the Europa Conference League this season.

Now he is of interest to Wolves, Rovers and Union Berlin, as each side looks to bolster their defensive options with an international pedigree defender.
