Derby County are set to reunite Lewis Travis with his former manager John Eustace, with the pair previously working together at Blackburn Rovers.

The former Blackburn Rovers captain had been linked to a move away from Ewood Park all summer, with Derby County the favourites across recent weeks after Travis announced his desire to make the move to Pride Park.

Derby have been in need of leaders within the team due to their recent injury crisis for the opening of their 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Eustace will be hopeful that his new signing can help Derby find form, particularly after their collapse to Coventry City at Pride Park.

While Travis is leaving Blackburn, the Lancashire club have seemingly identified his replacement already.

Blackburn Rovers set to sign Moussa Baradji

Blackburn have announced the signing of the French midfielder Moussa Baradji from Yverdon Sport in Switzerland.

The Lancashire club had been linked with the midfielder earlier in the window but were unable to sign him due to registration issues, as Blackburn had filled all their ESC slots.

Earlier in the week Blackburn released Exaucé Mafoumbi in order to free up an ESC slot, with the intention of being able to sign Baradji as a replacement for Travis.

This will help to explain why Blackburn had remained quiet on the deal to sell Travis until they had everything in place to ensure a replacement had been arranged.

After joining Yverdon Sport last summer, Baradji enjoyed a season in the Swiss Super League, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 27 appearances.

The French-Malian, who can operate in a range of midfield roles, has been a long-term target for the club, whilst also being courted by a number of top-flight teams from across Europe.

Valerien Ismael on the decision to sell Lewis Travis

The Blackburn Rovers manager almost certainly confirmed that Lewis Travis had played his final match with the club, as he spoke with the BBC.

He said: “There is something going on behind the scenes, but we are focusing on the game – the other thing we will talk about as soon as we can.

“It looks like it, but we will see what’s going on.

“Todd will be the new permanent captain of the club.”
