Truth behind Lewis Travis and Blackburn Rovers fallout emerges as Derby County circle

Lewis Travis’ time at Blackburn Rovers looks to be coming to an end soon, with Derby County pushing to sign the midfielder.

The 27-year-old has told Rovers that he wants to join the Rams this summer, but a bid for Blackburn’s captain has been rejected already.

John Eustace has already reunited with four players from his time at Ewood Park. Andreas Weimann and Danny Batth made their way to Derby before pre-season started, while Owen Beck and Dion Sanderson have joined on loan from Liverpool and Birmingham City respectively.

However, Travis is the one who Eustace will truly want and now more on the saga has emerged ahead of Blackburn’s game against Birmingham this weekend.

Yet, the situation involving Travis will be on the minds of everyone at Pride Park, especially after Ismael told the media that the midfielder wants to leave Blackburn, with the Lancashire Telegraph reporting that the 27-year-old’s camp were not happy with those comments.

He wanted to play against West Brom last weekend, even though Derby were interested in him, and he is keen to ensure that he gives his all until he does depart – however, he does not want to exit ‘through the back door’.

The report also states that the Rams have made an offer that is ‘life-changing’ and with just a year left on his contract at Ewood Park, he is keen for a new challenge but the situation must be handled correctly.

All parties must bring the Lewis Travis situation to an end quickly

As with any transfer saga, nothing can happen until the two clubs agree on a fee for a player and at this moment in time, Derby are way off Blackburn’s valuation of Travis.

However, the Rams are also looking after themselves and they will not be willing to spend too much on a player who has less than 12 months on his current deal.

Yet, Travis’ position is also clear and it will be tough for Blackburn to change his mind. Derby have been interested in Rovers’ captain throughout the summer, and they want more Championship experience in their squad.

The Rams will likely return with an improved offer soon, and the Lancashire outfit must decide whether they can afford to lose Travis in June on a free or if they must cash-in now.
