Blackpool are determined to return to the Championship as they prepare for their third consecutive campaign in League One, and they understand they need to bring in some new faces and hold onto their talent to achieve this.
The club finished outside the play-offs last season, with Steve Bruce guiding them to a ninth-place finish after joining Blackpool in September to replace Neil Critchley after a slow start to the campaign.
Steve Bruce has already been busy in the transfer window and signed a League One cheat code, as he looks to get Blackpool back to the Championship when they signed George Honeyman.

However, Blackpool have now lost a player that would have been key to this promotion push, and the fans have let their feelings be known about the decision of the club to allow Rob Apter to move to Charlton Athletic.
Blackpool fans react to the sale of Rob Apter to Charlton Athletic
Excitement will be growing among fans as the season edges nearer, with most sides now in pre-season training and having friendly fixtures to prepare for their campaign.
However, the feeling among fans at Blackpool did take a hit as they had to bid farewell to Rob Apter, who had impressed for the club last season.
Fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the departure of the 22-year-old who came through the youth ranks at the side.
One fan said: “Can’t help but think it’s too early for him, but the chance to play in a higher division is an opportunity we would all take; best of luck to him.”
Another fan agreed with the sentiment as they said: “Good luck to him! Can be very good. Can go completely missing. Think he could have done with another season of League 1 football, yet, but let’s see how he develops. Decent fee for us to develop the squad regardless. Let’s crack on.”
While another spoke about how he should have had another year at Blackpool, as they said: “Good luck, Rob; we still think he’s not the finished article. Great potential but has only done 1 season in League 1. A gamble by Charlton.”
However, the fans of Blackpool all wished the player luck, with no ill-feeling being held towards him as he moves to the Championship with Charlton.
One fan said: “All the best, Rob. I was looking forward to watching you again this season. Wishing you a successful future.”
Rob Apter’s career to this point
The 22-year-old has only had one season with Blackpool at League One level, having been loaned out to several clubs across the three campaigns before the 2024/25 season.
| Club | Appearances | Goals | |
| 2020-25 | Blackpool | 55 | 8 |
| 2021-22 | Bamber Bridge | 21 | 10 |
| 2021-22 | Chester | 17 | 2 |
| 2022-23 | Scunthorpe United | 20 | 4 |
| 2023-24 | Tranmere Rovers | 40 | 13 |
| 2025-present | Charlton Athletic | 0 | 0 |
Apter did impress last season while playing for Blackpool in the division, scoring eight goals across 50 matches from the wing.
Charlton are taking a bit of a gamble with the player, due to the reported fee they have spent to acquire him; however, Nathan Jones will be confident he can get the best out of him.

Apter clearly has confidence in his ability to step up and perform at Championship level, having put pen to paper on the move to London.
