EFL Analysis can reveal one Burnley star has been holding talks over his future during the international break.

The Clarets are looking to win promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking in 2024/25.

Burnley beat Swansea City 2-0 in their final clash before the March international break, keeping them within touching distance of the automatic promotion places.

But with eight games of the season to go, Scott Parker’s side are still by no means guaranteed to win promotion come May.

Should they fail to secure a place in the Premier League for the 2025/26 campaign, it seems likely they will be losing one of their top performers.

Josh Brownhill increasingly likely to leave Burnley

Josh Brownhill made the move to Turf Moor in 2020, signing from Bristol City, and has since cemented himself as one of the Clarets’ most important players.

However, the Burnley captain has spent much of the international break out of the country holding talks about his future, EFL Analysis understands.

Brownhill is increasingly likely to depart Turf Moor this summer, and interest in him is mounting.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed a brilliant campaign for Burnley – his 13 goals make him one of the top-scorers in the Championship.

Indeed, only Cole Palmer has scored more goals as a midfielder in English football.

AS Monaco, Everton and Leeds United among clubs interested in Josh Brownhill

In terms of potential suitors, the Warrington-born ace is not short of options.

We can reveal that the likes of Everton, Fulham, Wolves, West Ham and Leeds United are all showing an interest in taking him on a free transfer this summer.

It is understood that Brownhill has held talks with French giants AS Monaco, whilst their near neighbours Nice have also shown an interest.

There is long-term interest in Italy, where Lazio have been reported to like the player, and now AS Roma, Fiorentina, and Bologna have all had contact.

There are options in Turkey and the Saudi Pro League too – giving Brownhill a lot to think about going into the last few months of the season.

Burnley for their part, are accepting that unless they get promoted to the Premier League, there is little chance of being able to keep their midfield star.
