This summer transfer window has the potential to be a tough one for Luton Town following their relegation to League One.
Matt Bloomfield fumed at full-time on the final day as the Hatters were beaten 5-3 by West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns, with the result ultimately seeing the Bedfordshire outfit suffer back-to-back relegations.
Now, Luton must find a way to keep hold of their main stars as they return to the third tier for the first time since 2018 and just over a year since they were playing their football in the Premier League.
Thelo Aasgaard has already cast doubt on his future at Luton, and now another ace at Kenilworth Road looks likely to depart with the transfer window set to close on June 10 before re-opening on June 16.
Luton Town’s Teden Mengi well-liked by a number of clubs
Teden Mengi joined the Hatters at the start of the 2023/24 campaign following promotion to the top flight. However, an injury-hit 2024/25 saw the centre-back play just 20 league games.

Thanks to our Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands that a host of clubs are looking to land Luton Town defender Teden Mengi following the club’s relegation to League One.
We are told Luton would like to keep hold of the former Manchester United star, but he has interest from the Premier League and Championship.
We can reveal that Burnley – who are losing CJ Egan-Riley this summer – are one of the clubs keen on Mengi, who has impressed for The Hatters since joining in 2023 and it is believed he would rather not be playing in League One.
It is also believed that Birmingham, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are also showing an interest in Mengi.
Teden Mengi could be the perfect young star to replace CJ Egan-Riley
CJ Egan-Riley is set to join Strasbourg at the end of his contract this month, and Burnley are searching for a replacement for the centre-back.
Mengi, who is 23, has plenty of Premier League and Championship experience already in his short career and with his physicality, he could be the perfect player to take over from Egan-Riley when he makes the switch to France – despite his past struggles in Bedfordshire.
Keeping the Luton defender fit would be Scott Parker’s first challenge if he was able to secure a deal, but after the Hatters were relegated to the third tier, Mengi will be keen to find a route out of Kenilworth Road, and the chance of Premier League football is extremely enticing.
