Cardiff City’s hopes of keeping Callum Robinson revealed, with one huge caveat still to come

Cardiff City had a campaign to forget last season, as they were relegated from the Championship to League One.

The Welsh giants had been flirting with the prospect of relegation from the Championship for several seasons as they struggled to compete in the league financially.

A possible solution may be coming to help the club regarding their financial situation in the form of former Welsh international Gareth Bale, as he has shown interest in buying the club after initially showing interest in Plymouth Argyle.

Like Plymouth and Luton Town, who were relegated to League One last season, Cardiff will be looking for an immediate return to the Championship.

In order to achieve this, the club must keep hold of their best players to give new manager Brian Barry-Murphy the resources to achieve this ambition.

Cardiff City are hopeful of holding onto Callum Robinson

Callum Robinson is one of the more experienced players for Cardiff City, having featured in the Premier League for West Brom, Aston Villa, and Sheffield United.

As per information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal that Cardiff City are hopeful they can keep hold of Robinson; however, it will be a battle.

It is understood that Cardiff want to keep hold of the Republic of Ireland international along with the likes of Ollie Tanner and Isaak Davies.

The club understands it is an easier task in mid-July to keep these types of players at the club, but it will be a different story as the transfer market comes to a close, so the Welsh giants remain hopeful they can keep hold of Robinson for the League One campaign.

Callum Robinson’s impact at Cardiff City

The 30-year-old joined the club in September 2022 for a reported fee of £1.75 million from West Brom.

Robinson has featured in the Cardiff side regularly across the final three seasons, having played in 83 matches.

Last season was his best in front of goal, as he scored 12 goals, which is over half his tally across the three seasons.

Robinson would be vital for Cardiff if they want to achieve promotion, with his ability in front of goal something they want to keep hold of; however, Championship clubs may be keeping an eye on the player as he may look to give his international career a boost as Ireland looks to qualify for the World Cup, with the 30-year-old likely to want to be part of the squad.
