You may still be reeling from that stunning play-off final, but now the weekend is over it’s time to look at the biggest rumours and exclusives in our Championship transfer round-up.
Sheffield United and Sunderland played out a dramatic Championship play-off final on Saturday afternoon, with Tommy Watson becoming a Black Cats legend with his last-gasp winning goal.
Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic joined the Championship party thanks to their play-off win over Leyton Orient, which means Nathan Jones is back in the second tier.
We now know all 24 teams that’ll form the division for 2025/26. So, the only thing left to sort out is the summer transfer window.
Here are the latest stories from the weekend with our Championship transfer round-up.

More Wrexham rumours to kick off the Championship transfer round-up
We begin our Championship transfer round-up with another Wrexham story. We can’t wait for Wrexham to join the Championship, and by the way the rumour mill is spinning so far this summer, the Red Dragons could be major players in the second tier.
The latest name linked with Wrexham is Aaron Cresswell. The West Ham icon is available on a free transfer next month, and is also wanted by Leeds United.
If they can snap up players of that calibre, the Championship should be very afraid.
Sheffield United chasing Jimmy Dunne
After losing the play-off final, the coming months could be fairly turbulent for Sheffield United and Chris Wilder.
The Blades are now likely to lose key players like Gustavo Hamer, Vini Souza, and Anel Ahmedhodzic, and Wilder will need to rebuild his squad sufficiently in the summer.
A good place to start would be the signing of Jimmy Dunne, who now looks set to join United after leaving QPR as a free agent.

Che Adams is on Birmingham City’s wishlist
It’s been a while since we last saw Che Adams in English football, but there is talk of a return to Birmingham for the striker.
We exclusively revealed just days ago that Adams would be hesitant to drop down to the Championship, unless he was given assurances about the project being developed at St. Andrew’s. As we know, Birmingham are eager to get promoted instantly, which may be enough to tempt the 28-year-old back from Italy.
This could tie in with the idea that Birmingham are likely to arrange loan-to-buy deals this summer, on the promise that promotion and a permanent move will follow.
Jobe Bellingham jets off for German talks
Sunderland may have gained promotion on Saturday, but the future of Jobe Bellingham remains very much in doubt.
On Monday, Jobe was heading to Germany to hold talks with Eintracht Frankfurt, while Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also known to be interested.
This aligns with the exclusive story we shared in our previous Championship transfer round-up ahead of the play-off final, suggesting Jobe would be leaving regardless of the result.

Future unclear for Middlesbrough fringe players
There’s a lot of uncertainty at Middlesbrough right now. Most of that comes down to whether Michael Carrick will stay or be sacked this summer.
What comes of that situation will influence the future of striker Josh Coburn. He enjoyed a great loan spell at Millwall and is expected to push for a chance on Teesside in 2025/26.
Meanwhile, we’re told Luke Ayling will be moved on ahead of the new season. To replace him, Boro may well turn to Plymouth Argyle full-back, Bali Mumba.
Preston North End make an appearance in our Championship transfer round-up
We conclude our Championship transfer round-up with a team that don’t normally make the headlines: Preston North End.
Last week, it was reported that Kaine Kesler-Hayden may be on his way to Coventry City. That’s a blow for Preston, who had the pleasure of having the Aston Villa starlet on loan this season.
Now, Preston may look to Thierry Small of Charlton Athletic to become their new left-back. The impressive 20-year-old is available on a free, unless the Addicks tie him down with a new contract soon.
