Sheffield United’s woes on the field have continued off it with the latest update on Patrick Bamford.
The future of the former Chelsea prospect was heavily discussed throughout the transfer window.
Bamford exited Leeds United in the summer as a free agent following their promotion to the Premier League after being deemed surplus to requirements by Daniel Farke.
After rumours circulated about a return, Middlesbrough showed no interest in re-signing Bamford in Rob Edwards’ first few weeks in charge.
Now, the former Championship frontman has made a surprising move regarding his footballing future.

Patrick Bamford to sign for Getafe after Sheffield United links
Reputable Italian journalist Matteo Moretto revealed on X that Bamford is set to sign for Spanish top flight outfit Getafe.
Moretto said: “Getafe-Bamford, today the parties will finalize the last details. The footballer, ready to fly to Spain.”
Surprisingly, Sheffield United were linked with Bamford as Chris Wilder searches for a way to rejuvenate the Blades’ attacking output following his reappointment.
Having scored only one goal so far in their seven Championship games, the Blades remain in desperate need of improvement in their goalscoring department.
When Ruben Selles was still in charge, we at EFL Analysis thought that Sheffield United should have signed Bamford to aid their woes in front of goal, and the Blades reportedly felt similar.
The Sheffield Star reported that Sheffield United were considering a shock move for the former Boro ace amid his move to Getafe, despite their hostile history.

Chris Wilder and Patrick Bamford have a rocky history
As Leeds and Sheffield United have battled against each other for top flight status over recent seasons, Wilder and Bamford have exchanged some choice words.
Most recently, at the end of last season, when Bamford led the Leeds faithful outside of Elland Road in an expletive chant about Wilder.
But in a mark of his professionalism, Wilder later revealed that Bamford called the Blades boss to apologise, to put the water under the bridge between the former foes.
Wilder said: “I am a big boy, you give it, you take it. You give it out locally, you take it locally as I have always done.
“We have our moments, other teams have their moments. I had a conversation with Pat yesterday, and I have no issue at all with it.
“I am not sure about the words used from a fellow pro, but I appreciate and respected him giving me a call, and we had 20 minutes.”
The grievances between the former duo were cast aside, and Wilder will have no doubt wanted to bring Bamford to Bramall Lane to aid his mammoth mission at Sheffield United, but the Spanish top flight outfit are set to sign the 32-year-old forward.
