After a heartbreaking end to their 2024/25 campaign, Coventry City foster ambitions of finishing in the Championship play-offs once more next season.

Coventry are one of multiple sides hopeful of finishing in the top six, and Frank Lampard knows that holding onto his star talent will be crucial.

Earlier in the window, EFL Analysis revealed that Haji Wright is of interest to Leicester City and Ipswich Town following their relegations from the Premier League.

Jack Rudoni was also placed on Sheffield United’s radar as a possible replacement for Gus Hamer, who is wanted by Leeds United and PSV.

But the above duo aren’t the only ones being touted with an exit, as right-back Milan van Ewijk is being courted by multiple clubs.

Coventry City set £8m Milan van Ewijk asking price amid Burnley and Besiktas interest

Van Ewijk has become one of the Championship’s best right-backs in recent seasons, combining pace, power and precision in the final third.

The Dutchman appeared 51 times in all competitions across 2024/25 and supplied six goal involvements from right-back, including two assists across both legs against Sunderland in May.

Unsurprisingly, the 24-year-old has been linked with an exit from clubs higher up, with Turkish giants Besiktas and newly-promoted Burnley showing an interest in his talents.

It was claimed earlier this week that Besiktas had bid £5.2 million for van Ewijk, as per Duhuliye, though EFL Analysis understands that Coventry are looking at around £8 million for the player.

That is according to information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, who also revealed that there are a couple of clubs in Germany seen as potential suitors for the defender.

In short, Coventry are under no pressure to sell van Ewijk, given his contract expires in 2027, but a bid of £8 million could be enough for them to part ways.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden can replace van Ewijk

Lampard supplied direct competition for van Ewijk at the start of July with the £3.5 million signing of Kaine Kesler-Hayden from Aston Villa.

Kesler-Hayden spent last season on loan at Preston North End, and the 22-year-old appeared 44 times in the Championship with two goals and three assists to his name.

Should Lampard sell van Ewijk this summer, Kesler-Hayden possesses similar attributes to the Dutchman, including his pace, directness and attacking qualities.

So, while he would need replacing, the Villa academy graduate is someone capable of filling his void.
