EFL Analysis understands that Emmanuel Latte Lath could seal a quick return to the Championship less than six months after his Middlesbrough exit.

Steve Gibson made a point of keeping hold of all Boro’s top stars in the previous summer transfer window despite plenty of interest.

However, Middlesbrough failed to reach the play-offs in 2024/25, and Michael Carrick’s future is in doubt.

One of the many reasons for the Teessiders’ woes in the most recent campaign was the sale of Emmanuel Latte Lath.

Middlesbrough netted £22.5m for Latte Lath, who moved to MLS outfit Atlanta United late in the winter window, but he could now be on his way back to England.

Ipswich Town want to sign Emmanuel Latte Lath

Ipswich Town tried to make a move for the Ivorian on deadline day last summer, but he remained at the Riverside.

The Tractor Boys have since been relegated back down to the Championship, but their interest in the former Boro hitman has not waned.

We understand that Ipswich are showing an interest in Latte Lath again.

Ipswich tried to sign him in January when he instead moved to the MLS with Atlanta.

But now it is believed there is a chance of a quick return to England for the former Middlesbrough man.

Middlesbrough replaced Latte Lath with a short-term loan move for Kelechi Iheanacho.

The former Leicester City man arrived from Sevilla and scored one goal in 15 Championship matches while also providing two assists.

Prior to his Boro exit, Latte Lath had 11 goals and three assists in 29 matches across 2024/25.

For Atlanta, meanwhile, he’s so far scored five and assisted two in 15 MLS fixtures.
