Ipswich Town are expected to be one of the leading contenders for the Championship title this season, with promotion the minimum expectation for the club.
Their ambition for the season will be to get out of the division and back to the Premier League, and Kieran McKenna has gone about adding to his squad for the upcoming campaign this summer transfer window.
The club look poised to acquire Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough as they look to bring in the best talents into the fold at Portman Road.
However, the club have also had to bid farewell to a number of players too, with the most high-profile being Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea for £30 million, while Nathan Broadhead looks set to depart for Wrexham.

Although there may be a silver lining for Ipswich Town, as they have reportedly looked to ‘hijack’ a deal for a Spanish starlet.

Ipswich Town ‘approach’ Como for Ivan Azon
According to a post on social media from Fabrizio Romano, he has claimed to exclusively reveal Ipswich’s ‘approach for Ivan Azon.
It was believed that the Spanish striker that joined Como in February 2025 was set to get experience in La Liga this campaign.
A loan move had been reportedly set up for the Spanish underage star to join Valencia; however, now Ipswich are looking to ‘hijack’ the deal.
The move from the Championship team indicates where they are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of their opening game with Birmingham City on August 8, as they look to increase their forward options.
Who is Ivan Azon?
Azon joined Como in February 2025 but has struggled to become a first-team fixture, having joined from Zaragoza.
The striker is only 22 years old, but he was a regular first-team player for the Spanish club in the Segunda Division for the past five seasons, scoring 27 goals across 149 appearances.
A move to Valencia would have given him top-flight football; however, Como manager Cesc Fàbregas may look at the experience he could gain at Ipswich under McKenna as more beneficial.
Ipswich fans should be pleased should they get the striker, as he clearly has an eye for goal and would be a fine addition to the squad, helping to replace Delap’s goals.
