On Monday 1 September, the transfer window will shut for the summer and for clubs in League One, they will be looking to finalise their squads for the first half of the campaign.

Cardiff City have been the standout side in the third tier in the first few weeks of the season, winning four of their first five games, while pre-season favourites Huddersfield Town are nipping at their heels in second place.

Nevertheless, there are plenty of twists and turns still to come in the next few weeks and months, and one signing could make a difference to the fortunes of every club in the division.

For Luton Town, improvements are still needed if they are to make their way up the League One table, and they are one of several clubs in the division showing an interest in a former Middlesbrough forward.

The former Middlesbrough striker moved to MLS side Houston Dynamo from St. Mirren earlier this year – but has seen his chances become limited.

Now we can reveal that a host of teams are in talks about a potential loan deal for the 27-year-old.

We can confirm that League One and League Two clubs Blackpool, Luton, Bolton, Northampton and Bristol Rovers are amongst the sides who are keen – along with Scottish sides Hibernian and Dundee United.

Toyosi Olusanya has struggled for consistency in front of goal

Since moving to Houston Dynamo, it’s not been the easiest of times for Olusanya, and he has made just nine appearances for the club, failing to score.

He had slightly more success in Scotland, scoring eight goals in 31 Scottish Premiership games for St. Mirren in 2024/25. It was by far his best season in football, scoring a third of his career goals during that time.

However, these struggles are not new. Following a move to Middlesbrough from Billericay in 2021, the now 27-year-old found it tough to make a name for himself at the Riverside Stadium. He played just three times for the senior team on Teesside, failing to find the back of the net in any of those appearances.

A move to League One may be the perfect way for Olusanya to get himself back on track, although t remains to be seen whether he will score consistently in the third tier.
