EFL Analysis understands Hayden Hackney is changing agents ahead of leaving Middlesbrough this summer.

Hayden Hackney is a product of Boro’s academy and made his Championship debut under Neil Warnock back in May 2021.

He’s since cemented himself as a regular starter for Middlesbrough, playing 113 games, scoring 10, and assisting nine.

However, we previously reported that Hackney could leave Boro in the current transfer window after the Teessiders failed to win promotion once more in 2024/25.

And we now have a fresh update on the Englishman’s future, with a number of clubs keeping tabs on the Boro ace.

Hayden Hackney changes agents as Sunderland keep tabs on Middlesbrough star

EFL Analysis understands that Middlesbrough star Hayden Hackney is set to leave the club this summer and has decided to change agents.

We understand that Hackney is set to work with one of Europe’s leading agencies, having opted to move on from his current representation.

Premier League teams Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and even local rivals Sunderland are keeping tabs on Hackney, who has also been watched by the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the last six months.

Portuguese giants Porto have tried to sign Hackney on more than one occasion, and a bid of nearly £15million was rejected in January.

We are told Porto remain keen, but we can also confirm that interest is emerging in Germany and Italy. It is believed that Erik Ten Hag’s Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt have joined the hunt, whilst Atalanta in Italy have also expressed an interest.

How much could Hayden Hackney leave Middlesbrough for

Hackney is an academy product, so any sale would be pure profit.

Should he leave, a transfer fee of around £20m-£25m has been mooted previously.

Currently, Middlesbrough’s record sale is Emmanuel Latte Lath, who left the North East outfit for £22.5m in the most recent January transfer window.

The Ivorian could return to the Championship next season, as we understand Ipswich Town are showing interest in Latte Lath after looking at the striker in the last two transfer windows.
