Derby County are continuing to push for new signings as the days tick down in the summer transfer window.
There have been plenty of new faces already through the door at Pride Park in recent weeks, but the £5.8m addition of Patrick Agyemang is arguably the most exciting.
Nevertheless, John Eustace and the recruitment team in DE24 still have work to do in the market to get this Rams squad as strong as possible following back-to-back defeats to start the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
Yet, that work is being done. Lewis Travis wants to join Derby, while there has been significant interest in Koki Saito. Now, EFL Analysis can provide an update on these two deals, as well as one involving Max Johnston, who the Rams have had two bids rejected for.
Exclusive: Derby County update on Koki Saito, Lewis Travis and Max Johnston
The East Midlands outfit host Bristol City on Friday evening, and supporters will have been keen to see new players in the squad for that clash. However, work is continuing on deals for Saito and Travis.

Following exclusive information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis understands that there is a high level of confidence that Derby will capture both of those players.
Liverpool’s sell-on clause on Travis has slightly complicated a deal, but the Rams believe that they will complete a deal for the Blackburn Rovers captain before deadline day.
However, there is less confidence in Johnston. There is plenty of interest in the Sturm Graz right-back from elsewhere, and this does make a move more difficult. Nonetheless, Derby are very excited by Saito.
John Eustace responds to question on Koki Saito
The Rams ran out 3-0 winners over Bristol City last August, and Eustace will be hoping for a repeat of that result on Friday as the Robins make the journey up to Pride Park for Gerhard Struber’s second ever visit to Derby.
However, ahead of the clash, the Rams’ head coach was asked about his side’s interest in Saito – who spent last season on loan at QPR. He scored three goals and registered two assists for the R’s in 39 Championship appearances.

Responding to a question about links to the 24-year-old, he said (via: BBC Radio Derby): “I think he’s a player that everyone has been looking at.
“We’ve been linked with a number of players, and obviously it’s great to be linked with all the good players in the Championship, and he’s no different.”
