It’s been a busy summer for Derby County, and they are continuing to press on with their transfer targets ahead of deadline day on 1 September.
The Rams’ start to the season has not quite lived up to expectations, but with the visit of Bristol City on the horizon, there are hopes that John Eustace’s side can finally pick up their first three points of the campaign.
History and stats are on the side of Derby against the Robins, and after a 3-0 win in the same fixture 12 months ago, supporters will be itching to see a repeat of that stellar performance.
However, there is a need to bring in players still, with injuries a major issue at Pride Park. The Rams’ interest in Max Johnston has been no secret, and now a third bid for the defender has been submitted.
Derby County submit third bid for Sturm Graz defender Max Johnston
Derby have been weighing up another offer for the right-back, and with the Scotland international having a £2m valuation, they now look to have matched that.

According to Anthony Joseph, the East Midlands outfit have sent a £2m bid to Austrian champions Sturm Graz as they look to finally get their hands on the full-back.
There is not as much confidence about sealing a deal for Johnston compared to the likes of Koki Saito and Lewis Travis, but this improved offer will help put Derby into the lead of the race for the 21-year-old.
There is competition from Sheffield United and Watford, while Italian outfit Bologna are also showing an interest in the defender, as per BBC Sport.

The writing could be on the wall for Ryan Nyambe
It’s been a difficult start to the season for Ryan Nyambe, with the ex-Blackburn Rovers man taking on the responsibility at right-back with Kane Wilson injured.
However, Wilson is back in training, while Joe Ward has shown flickers of excellence in the last week and Nyambe could find himself falling down the pecking order at Derby.

Johnston would only add to his problems and his game time may become severely limited at Pride Park. He struggles offensively, and injuries have been a problem over the course of the last year.
Wilson can adapt and play further forward if needed, something that would allow Johnston to take responsibility at right-back if a move does come off. Therefore, it could be a difficult end to the transfer window for Nyambe.
