Ipswich Town are testing the waters with one of their promotion rivals in an attempt to find a successor to Omari Hutchinson.
Nottingham Forest signed Hutchinson for £40m leaving money to burn in Kieran McKenna’s pockets.
Promotion is the goal for Ipswich and after two draws against Birmingham City and Southampton, now is the time to kick off.
Leicester City will be one of their rivals this season and Marti Cifuentes needs to trim the squad before he can make any additions.
While Ipswich may be about to help them, would the Foxes sell to a promotion rival?

Ipswich Town make surprise bid for Kasey McAteer
According to John Percy of The Telegraph, Ipswich have made a bid for Leicester winger Kasey McAteer.
The Foxes turned down a £10m bid from Sunderland in the January transfer window and although it’s unclear if the Tractor Boys’ offer has been accepted or not.
McAteer came through the Leicester academy and was a regular in their 2023/24 Championship title-winning season.
Now a Republic of Ireland international, the 23-year-old plays second fiddle to Abdul Fatawu and has only started one game this season, which was in the Carabao Cup.
Leicester should cash in on Kasey McAteer
Leicester look set to lose another key player as Bilal El Khannouss closes in on a move to Crystal Palace and that will bring in big money.
McAteer isn’t in the same bracket as El Khannouss but as a homegrown player who has had significant Championship experience, can still command a decent fee.
Playing as a backup in a position that has plenty of options means Leicester could probably use the money to recruit elsewhere and find a new defender/midfielder/striker to bolster their ranks.
Yes, it may be seen as strengthening a direct rival, but the Foxes need a restart and this could help them kickstart that.
