Leicester City have identified Josh Brownhill as a top target this summer, but one thing could hinder their pursuit of the former Burnley midfielder.
With over a week until the 2025/26 Championship season kicks off, many eyes will be on Leicester City and how they have responded to relegation from the Premier League.
They have appointed Marti Cifuentes as Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s replacement, but player arrivals have been limited for the Spaniard so far.
Asmir Begovic has joined Leicester City, with it expected that he will play as a back-up shot-stopper in Cifuentes’ squad, and he is the only arrival at the King Power this summer.
The Championship campaign is fast approaching, but nonetheless, Leicester City are preparing an offer for Josh Brownhill as they look to bolster their squad. However, there is one potential hurdle for the pursuit.

Stumbling block in Leicester City pursuit for Josh Brownhill revealed
It has been reported, via Joe Donnohue on X, that Leicester City have offered a ‘long-term deal’ to Josh Brownhill this summer following his departure from Burnley on a free.
Brownhill played a key role in Burnley’s promotion to the Premier League under Scott Parker, with the midfielder bagging 18 goals.
Unfortunately, from Leicester City’s perspective, Brownhill is keen to play in the Premier League this season, with the Englishman admiring Leeds United; however, that is yet to be reciprocated by the club. A move overseas is also an option for Brownhill this summer.

Why Leicester must put full focus on Josh Brownhill pursuit
Josh Brownhill has rightly been identified as a top target for Leicester City, at a time when top-quality incomings are vital for the upcoming season.
Leicester City Director of Football Jon Rudkin is already under pressure in his current role, and that will mount further if he cannot bring sufficient signings to the King Power Stadium. The pursuit of Brownhill could easily dictate whether this summer has been a success or not.
With the record that he managed to tally with Burnley last season, particularly in front of goal, it would be a massive signing for the Foxes to bring in Brownhill.
They were starved last season by not managing to bring in a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall replacement, and, one year later, it looks as though Leicester could finally secure it in the form of Brownhill, but an uphill battle remains in the transfer pursuit.
