Middlesbrough ace who has ‘fire’ set to join Bolton Wanderers on season-long loan despite top flight interest

Bolton Wanderers have had an extremely underwhelming start to the season in League One, with their inability to turn draws into wins proving a major issue.

It’s four draws from six games for the Trotters so far, while they have picked up one win at home to a Plymouth Argyle side who are really struggling at the bottom end of the division.

Nevertheless, they have tied each of their last four matches 1-1 in the third tier, and adding more firepower to the front line is imperative if the Greater Manchester outfit are to climb up the table in the coming weeks and months.

Bringing in players from the division above is crucial for Bolton to achieve success, and they are now closing in on the signing of a new attacking player from Middlesbrough.

Bolton Wanderers set to win battle for Middlesbrough’s Marcus Forss

Following exclusive information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, Middlesbrough wide forward Marcus Forss has had plenty of interest in him this summer.

The Teessiders have told the Finnish ace that he will not get significant game time at the Riverside Stadium this season, and therefore a move away seemed the natural next step. There has been interest from across Europe, including some top flight clubs.

However, according to Pete O’Rourke, it is Bolton who will win the race for Forss, with the Trotters set to sign the player on a season-long loan.

The 26-year-old featured in League One for AFC Wimbledon at the start of the 2019/20 campaign on loan from Brentford, scoring 11 goals and registering one assist in 18 games.

Marcus Forss’ Middlesbrough career looks to be all but over

It’s been an incredible start to the campaign for Middlesbrough, with Rob Edwards’ side the only club in the EFL to still have a 100% record.

For Forss, Boro’s success could potentially mean a permanent exit in the future, especially as the new head coach does not exactly see him as part of his long-term plans, and Bolton will be keen to offer the forward a new home.

He made 24 Championship appearances last season, scoring once, with that goal coming against Stoke City in February. After the game, Michael Carrick said of the Finland international (via: Teesside Live): “It’s little things really, knowing what he’s good at. He had a little bit about him in the last week or so, he has a bit of fire about him and I just thought he’d suit today.

“That’s why we have the squad and I keep talking about it. There’s no point in me keeping talking about the squad and how good it is if we don’t use it and tonight it worked well.”
