Middlesbrough star makes honest admission about transfer business as he wants ‘to be playing’

Middlesbrough have made a perfect start to their Championship campaign this season, and this has raised morale around the club as conversations begin about a potential promotion.

It is the first time in 31 years that Middlesbrough have won the opening three games of a league campaign, and they won the second tier of English football the last time that happened.

Fans will be hopeful there is a repeat 31 years on; however, they will not be getting carried away, as Middlesbrough still feel they need several signings before the end of the transfer window.

While this is viewed as a way to strengthen the side, there may be some players who could get out of joint due to the belief that the manager will be replacing them.

Tommy Conway’s honest admission on future transfers

The Middlesbrough attacker has made an impressive start to the season, and this has coincided with their good form, as he scored their second goal in the Teesside club’s win over Norwich City at the weekend.

Tommy Conway is aware that the club are looking to bring in attacker Kaly Sene, who was linked to Middlesbrough over the weekend, and the Scottish striker shared his thoughts with Teesside Live.

He said: “Whether I’m playing or not, I’ll always have an impact on or off the pitch.

“At the end of the day, I’m a football player, and of course I want to be playing and helping the team as much as possible. But if someone else comes in, then I only see that as good depth for the squad.

“We chat about it all the time, us and the lads. We think we’ve got a good squad on our hands. If we can keep everyone fit all season, then I think we’re going to have a good chance.

“And the more quality we have in the squad, the more benefit it’s going to have for us. Hopefully, bodies can come in to help the squad, and hopefully we can continue to get better.”

Conway would be happy with a repeat of last season’s fixture against Sheffield United

Middlesbrough are in flying form as they enter this weekend’s fixture against Sheffield United, and they can focus their attention this week on the match, having already been eliminated from the Carabao Cup.

Last season at the Riverside, Middlesbrough secured a 1-0 win over Sheffield United, with Tommy Conway starting the fixture.

He would be withdrawn for Emmanuel Latte Lath, and the substitute would prove to be the difference as he scored the winner in the 80th minute to earn Boro all three points.
