West Bromwich Albion are continuing to strengthen their side as Ryan Mason prepares for his first full season as a manager.
Mason has impressed West Brom’s current crop of players and is slowly assembling a squad that is capable of going better than the ninth-placed finish they achieved last season.
The £4.7m deal to sign Aune Heggebo has been dubbed as ‘fantastic’ business to improve their striking ranks and now they are focusing on improving the backline too.

West Brom close to signing George Campbell from CF Montreal
According to GiveMeSport, West Brom are closing in on the signing of CF Montreal centre-back George Campbell.
The defender was absent from the Montreal squad for their 1-1 draw away to Orlando City at the weekend, despite being a regular in the heart of the back four.
Campbell has one appearance for the US national team after establishing himself as a first team regular at Montreal after joining from Atlanta United.
If the move goes through, he will be the second US star at The Hawthorns along with striker Daryl Dike.
What can West Brom fans expect from George Campbell?
The Baggies’ incoming addition comes with an air of the unknown about him due to playing out of Europe but thankfully, MLS expert Jeremy Peterman has hinted that he could be one of the bargain signings of the season.
Writing on X, he said: “Campbell is physically ready for the Championship and adds another dimension to WBA’s CB room: outstanding ball-carrying. He instantly becomes the most progressive CB that the Baggies have at their disposal. Great pickup, expecting fee to be in the £1M range.”
Peterman then replied to a supporter to confirm that the 24-year-old is well-suited to play in a back four or back three, which will no doubt delight Mason.
