Norwich City are preparing for the arrival of Liam Manning at Carrow Road, but work is still going on to get the team ready for the new season.

Jacob Wright became the Canaries’ first signing of the summer after the Championship outfit activated a clause in his contract to make his loan deal a permanent one, and now a second signing is on their way to East Anglia.

Johannes Hoff Thorup was sacked in April, leaving a vacancy at Norwich, and Bristol City’s Manning is just days away from officially being announced as the new man in the dugout in NR1, but the club are not resting on their laurels as they look to push towards the top six in 2025/26.

With Angus Gunn departing at the end of his contract, a new goalkeeper is needed, and the Canaries are closing in on the signing of the first of many now that the transfer window is open.

Norwich City close in on Daniel Grimshaw

2024/25 was another disappointing campaign for Norwich, and big changes are coming with the club’s owners willing to spend big to help push the team towards the top six once again, and Daniel Grimshaw is one of those set to join Manning in Norfolk.

As first reported by Anthony Joseph, a fee of £600k has been agreed between the Canaries and Plymouth Argyle, who lost manager Miron Muslic over the weekend.

However, Grimshaw is not the only goalkeeper set to move to Carrow Road this summer, with that area of the pitch one that the club’s bosses are keen to improve on after their 13th place finish, as they conceded 68 goals in the process.

The 27-year-old is now in talks over his contract with Norwich, with a medical set to take place later this week.

Liam Manning will be pleased with the Canaries’ quick progress

Grimshaw shared responsibilities with Conor Hazard at Plymouth last season, as the Pilgrims were relegated to League One, but a fresh start back in the Championship is on the cards this summer.

While not one of the most important additions, Manning can clearly see that Norwich are working hard to ensure that they are not left languishing in mid-table once again next season and work is progressing quickly to improve the squad.

The likes of Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent will be targeted in the coming weeks and months, and it will be a priority to try and find replacements in the forward positions.

However, strengthening the squad as a whole is vital and the Canaries must continue to do so throughout the transfer window as they chase a play-off spot in 2025/26.
