Norwich City are wasting no time in kickstarting their transfer business, even without a permanent manager at the helm.

Norwich placed Jack Wilshere in temporary charge at Carrow Road after sacking Johannes Hoff Thorup with just two matches of the season left.

The former Arsenal midfielder secured a goalless draw against Middlesbrough and a 4-2 win over Cardiff City, but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to land him a permanent role.

We revealed last week that Wilshere is set to leave Norwich after being snubbed for the job at Carrow Road, despite the players reacting positively to his methods.

The Canaries are now on the hunt for a long-term replacement at the helm, who will already have a new signing to work with.

Norwich City have signed Jacob Wright from Man City after triggering genius clause

In February 2025, Norwich signed highly-rated midfielder Jacob Wright on loan from Manchester City for the remainder of the campaign.

The 19-year-old slotted into defensive midfield superbly after joining the club, amassing 15 appearances in the Championship while laying on four assists.

We exclusively suggested in April that Norwich wanted to sign Wright permanently, although the youngster did have interest from Sunderland and Middlesbrough for his signature.

But as highlighted by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Canaries held an advantage over the rest of the interested clubs, as his move to Carrow Road has been made permanent for just £2.3 million after Wright started nine times.

The midfielder’s final day appearance against Cardiff at the start of May took him to 10 starts for Norwich, seeing a bargain transfer triggered with an announcement from the club surely soon to follow.

Wright’s stats since joining Norwich

Still in his teenage years, Wright has been capped six times by the England under-20s and will be on the agenda of the under-21s very soon.

The midfield metronome also slotted perfectly into the demands of Championship football, with his vision, technique and energy all being standout attributes.

Jacob Wright’s Norwich City stats
15 appearances
4 assists
2 big chances created
85% accurate passes
1.8 tackles per game
3.9 balls recovered per game
1.3 key passes per game

To land a gem from the Man City academy for just over £2 million could prove to be one of the division’s biggest bargains of the summer, with supporters undoubtedly excited by this genius move.
