Stoke City are gearing up for their first Championship game of the campaign next Saturday, with Mark Robins still hoping for more signings.

It’s been a good summer transfer window for the Potters, with Maksym Talovierov’s move from Plymouth Argyle to Staffordshire perhaps their standout addition.

Sorba Thomas will also be crucial after impressing for Wales in the off-season, while Aaron Cresswell has made the switch to the Championship after his West Ham United contract expired at the end of 2024/25.

However, there is one player who is set to depart Stoke in the coming days, and Robins’ plans for the rest of the summer may have to change.

Sol Sidibe set for medical at PSV Eindhoven ahead of Stoke City departure

Sol Sidibe has been of interest to PSV Eindhoven this summer, and after a deal was agreed for the midfielder, Dharmesh Sheth has reported that the teenager is now set for a medical with the Dutch giants.

He will sign a four-year deal with the club, who have beaten a Premier League side to his signature, although the fee is undisclosed.

PSV have qualified for the Champions League for the 2025/26 campaign, having won the Eredivisie last season by just one point over Ajax and they will be hoping for a better knockout stage performance if they do qualify past the league phase.

The Rood-witten were beaten 9-3 on aggregate by Arsenal in the round of 16, and Sidibe will be hoping to have an impact in European competition once the move is finalised.

The Potters may already have their Sol Sidibe replacement lined up

In 2024, Stoke icon, Ryan Shawcross, saw the very best of Sidibe and praised him after an U21 game. He said (via: stokecityfc.com): “I thought Sol was absolutely top-class tonight and was the best player on the pitch by far.”

He will be disappointed to see the 18-year-old move on, but the Potters already look as though they have a replacement ready to join them.

Mark Robins is keen to see Steven N’Zonzi return to the club after it emerged the World Cup winner was training with Stoke.

While he will not be a regular, he can provide plenty of experience in the heart of midfield, and he can plug the gap that Sidibe would have filled this season until a permanent replacement is found for the England U18 international.
