Stoke City have already conducted a fine bit of business in the transfer window, bringing in Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield Town, and he’s just made a great first impression.
The summer transfer window is about to close for a week, but Stoke have made a great start to their preparations for next season already.
Mark Robins needs to bolster his squad after the poor showing from the Potters in 2024/25, and bringing in Sorba Thomas appears to be a step in the right direction.
The new Stoke City signing arrives with the blessing of Lee Grant and everyone at Huddersfield, and it seems he’s already won over fans at his new club, too.

Stoke City fans are buzzing about Sorba Thomas after Wales display
Thomas, a Wales international, has been in action for his country over the last few days and it’s safe to say he’s done pretty well.
Wales secured a big three points in a 3-0 win over Liechtenstein on Friday night, with Thomas providing an assist for Joe Rodon to get things started.
Then, Craig Bellamy’s side were on the wrong end of a thrilling 4-3 clash with Belgium on Monday night, with Thomas bagging a goal and an assist.
While the result may not have gone the way Wales wanted, Stoke fans have seen enough to be convinced they’ve signed a world-beater.
One fan took to Twitter/X to say, “Not being dramatic or anything, but we may have signed the best player on the planet.”
Another added, “Man of the match with De Bruyne and Doku on the pitch, my winger,” while a third said, “He’s getting me all confident.”
Not to get carried away, of course, but one Potters supporter even replied, “Announce promotion,” and another said, “Looks like we’ve got a bargain.”
Elsewhere, PottersLive looked at Thomas’ stats, writing: “1 goal, 1 assist, 8 duels won, 5 accurate crosses, 4 chances created, 4 fouls won, 3 big chances created, 2 shots on target, 2/3 tackles won, 8.7 match rating – MOTM. Hopefully a sign of what’s to come.”

Sorba Thomas’ career so far
It’s been a fascinating rise for Sorba Thomas during his career, going from the National League with Boreham Wood, to Championship football with Huddersfield (and briefly Blackburn Rovers), and also having a loan spell out in France last season.
Thomas played 25 times for Nantes in Ligue 1 in 2024/25, registering one goal and three assists for the French side.
| Club | Games | Goals | Assists | Minutes |
| Huddersfield Town | 125 | 7 | 31 | 9,737 |
| Boreham Wood | 86 | 8 | 5 | 5,734 |
| FC Nantes | 27 | 1 | 3 | 1,390 |
| Blackburn Rovers | 17 | 0 | 2 | 900 |
Over the years, Thomas has racked up 131 appearances in the Championship, with seven goals and an impressive 29 assists. If he can match those levels with Stoke, they’ll be very happy indeed.
