Middlesbrough could sell star midfielder Hayden Hackney in the summer transfer window, and an insight into the potential transfer fee has been shared with EFL Analysis.
After a disappointing 2024/25 that ended with a 10th-place Championship finish, Middlesbrough may part with some of their bigger names.
Rav van den Berg could move, with interest from the Premier League and Germany.
Finn Azaz is wanted by Premier League teams as well after reaching double figures for goals and assists last term.
Meanwhile, we previously revealed that Hayden Hackney is the most likely to leave Middlesbrough this summer, as his potential sale would be pure profit, given he’s an academy product.
But how much could Boro look to get for the England U21 international?

Middlesbrough Hayden Hackney price-tag amid Jobe Bellingham point
EFL Analysis has spoken exclusively to transfer expert Graeme Bailey about a potential fee for the midfielder.
He suggested that somewhere in the region of £20m could be the figure Middlesbrough net for the Redcar-born star.
Bailey stated: “He’s gone to the Under-21 Euros, and if he impresses, Middlesbrough will be hoping he plays well in Slovakia and adds a few million on his price tag.
“We sort of have a benchmark in that Marcus Tavernier went for less than or just about £15m when he went to Bournemouth. I think that Boro would like over £20m for Hayden Hackney. I’m not sure they’ll get it, but what happens this summer will tell us a lot.
“Will there be competing clubs? Maybe. I think the ballpark will be £20m, but it could be a little bit more with add-ons and extras. It could be a bit more.”
Jobe Bellingham recently left Sunderland in a deal worth up to £31m, as per BBC Sport, and there has been chat on social media from some Boro fans about how the ex-Black Cat and Hackney are similar.
However, when asked if the fee Middlesbrough earn for Hackney could be similar to Bellingham, Bailey suggested you cannot compare the two.
He said: “The thing is, I don’t think you can even compare it to Jobe Bellingham’s move. The reputation there, it’s a different prospect entirely for Hackney, really.”

Middlesbrough record transfer sales
Should Hackney move for somewhere in the region of £20m, he would be among the most expensive sales in Middlesbrough’s history.
The most expensive departure from the Riverside Stadium is Emmanuel Latte Lath, who left for the MLS in January.
- 1. Emmanuel Latte Lath – £22.5m
- 2. Adama Traore – £18m
- 3. Ben Gibson – £15m
- 4. Martin de Roon – £13m
- 5. Djed Spence- £12.5m
£20m would put Hackney second on the list, while Azaz and Van den Berg sales could see the top-five look very different come the end of this transfer window.
