West Brom made a perfect start to life under new manager Ryan Mason as they won their opening three games of the campaign.

Despite this, Ryan Mason has made it clear in both his words and his actions that West Brom are still looking to add to their squad as they aim for a promotion push to the Premier League.

The Baggies have been linked to several incomings and outgoings before the close of the summer transfer window, with the most worrying potential departure being that of Tom Fellows to Everton.

West Brom have been linked to the loan signing of James McConnell from Liverpool, with the Baggies set to battle several Championship clubs for the midfielder’s signature.

It is clear that West Brom are looking for a central midfielder, and now they have been linked with one who has made 68 international appearances for his country.

West Brom have been linked to Glen Kamara

According to French publication L’Equipe, Albion are targeting Kamara and have made ‘an approach’ to Rennes, with it being unknown how the French club feel about the move.

This does not indicate that they have made a bid, but it shows they are willing to make a move for the midfielder, believing the former Leeds United player could have what he needs to strengthen his squad.

The report states West Brom, Bologna and FC Copenhagen are in a three-horse race to sign Kamara, so there’s plenty of competition.

It is believed, as per Birmingham World, all three clubs are keen on signing the midfielder on loan initially, with an option-to-buy clause included in the deal.

The report suggests Bologna are leading the race to sign Kamara, but if he ends up at The Hawthorns instead, he would offer head coach Ryan Mason the opportunity to switch things up in midfield.

What Glen Kamara would bring to West Brom

Kamara has struggled in France since making his move to Stade Rennais despite only joining them 13 months ago for a reported €10 million (£8.7m).

The Finland international, who joined Leeds United from Rangers in 2023 for around £5.5 million, has only played 13 league matches for the French club since joining.

If Kamara were to join, he would bring a bit more physicality to the current midfield at Mason’s disposal; he could arguably operate in a similar way to Ousmane Diakite with a role off the bench; however, he is of a level to start regularly.
