It’s been a steady start to the season for Millwall, and six games into the new campaign, they currently sit 10th in the Championship table.
The Lions were victorious on Monday evening, picking up their first victory at The Den in 2025/26. However, Alex Neil believed a penalty should have been awarded against Watford, as Kevin Keben appeared to drag down Macaulay Langstaff in the box.
Nevertheless, Camiel Neghli’s stunning free kick earned all three points for the hosts and they head into their next clash against Swansea City full of confidence.
Millwall are yet to lose on the road this season, a statistic that Neil and his players should be very proud of as they eye up a record of their own in the coming months.

Millwall on their best start to a season away from home since 1995/96 in the Championship
While the Lions have not enjoyed the easiest of starts at The Den, away from their home ground, it’s been a very positive start.

Millwall are unbeaten on the road in 2025/26, picking up two wins and a draw. They can extend that unbeaten run to four against Swansea on Saturday, as they chase down the record for their best away start to a second tier campaign.
Back in the 1995/96 season, the South London outfit went nine games without losing on their travels to start the campaign.
However, Millwall were relegated at the end of that season, despite having sat inside the top two for the first third of the year.

Millwall’s effective football has been on show once again in the Championship
The Lions were one of the dark horses for a play-off place before a ball was kicked, and while Neil was searching for a ‘remedy’ at The Den, his side’s form on the road has ensured that they have kept pace with those in and around the top six.
However, Millwall are a side who do not see plenty of the ball, and in fact, have not created too many clear-cut chances compared to their rivals (9).
| Stat | Millwall’s metric |
|---|---|
| Possession | 48% |
| Goals per match | 0.8 |
| Goals conceded per match | 1.2 |
| xG | 7.8 |
| Big chances (missed) | 9 (7) |
| Touches in opposition box | 169 |
The Lions have been relatively efficient with what they have seen of the ball, and while a 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough at The Den last month was worrying, they look to be improving on a weekly basis.
A victory over Swansea, a team who are also fighting for a top six finish this season, would be a statement as Millwall look to continue this historic run that they are on.
